Early Life And Education
Born on November 12, 1985, Yvonne Nelson is from Accra, Ghana. Originally from the Cape Coast region of Ghana, she is a natural English speaker. Her father, Mr. O. Nelson, and mother, Margaret Gaddy, gave birth to her.
She started her formal education at St. Martin De Porres School in Accra, Ghana, and then continued on to Aggrey Memorial Senior High School.
She went to elementary school and high school in Ghana. Then she went to Central University College to get a degree in human resource management.
In 2005, she was one of the contestants at the prestigious Miss Ghana Pageant. But no matter what she did, she couldn’t prevail.
Yvonne Nelson Career
In 2000, she began her acting career and began going out to auditions for movies in Ghana. In 2007, she rose to prominence after starring in the smash-hit Ghanaian film Princess Tyra. Success with Princess Tyra led her to Nigeria, where she filmed five more films and became a household name in the country’s film industry.
She is a veteran actress who has acted in close to one hundred films, including Crime to Christ, Princess Tyra, Passion of the Soul, Plan B, Tears of Womanhood, etc.
With her acting career flourishing, Yvonne Nelson made the decision in 2011 to produce her first film, The Price.
She published Married the Following Year a year after that. In 2013, she took home Best Picture honors at the Ghana Movie Awards and the Best Ghanaian Movie prize at Nigeria’s City Peoples Entertainment Awards.
In 2010, she began working to bring attention to the plight of those with chronic illnesses by establishing the Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation. Her nonprofit organization provides relief to the underprivileged and individuals with physical impairments.
She put together a charity single and video with many famous Ghanaians to bring attention to diseases that can be prevented.
She was honored for her work in both the film industry and the fight against glaucoma with honors from GoWoman Magazine and Printex in 2013. It is her goal to defend the energy grid in Ghana alongside other famous Ghanaians and the general people.
