Mr. Osita Okechukwu, the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), has made an appeal to Nigerians, urging them to give President Bola Tinubu’s administration the benefit of the doubt in reshaping the socio-economic landscape of the country. Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed his views while engaging with journalists in Enugu on Sunday.
He acknowledged the underrated opinions held by many Nigerians regarding President Tinubu’s controversial past but emphasized the need to avoid underestimating him. Okechukwu highlighted that throughout history, there have been instances where Presidents who were initially underestimated ended up performing well. As an example, he mentioned the case of Warren G.
Harding, the 29th President of the United States, who faced similar underestimation but managed to steer the country successfully. Okechukwu pointed out President Tinubu’s decisive actions, such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the suspension of dual foreign exchange rates, which demonstrate early positive signs in his leadership. He concluded by highlighting the importance of acknowledging potential and giving President Tinubu’s administration a fair chance to bring about positive changes for Nigeria’s progress.
