The Nigerian Army stated on Friday that while maintaining calm in Plateau and sections of Kaduna and Bauchi, it lost four operatives.
In a recent press release, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) claimed that the team was complicit in the recent killings in Plateau State.
In a statement issued on Friday, Major Ishaku Takwa, spokesman for Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), disputed the charge, stating the assertion was an attempt to purposefully deceive the state’s inhabitants.
According to him, the men under his command merely keep the peace by defending lives and property, despite the fact that one officer and three soldiers have died in the process since January of this year.
The statement urged everyone to toss out the information.
“Operation Safe Haven wishes to clarify unequivocally that these statements are completely incorrect and that well-intentioned Nigerians should disregard them.” This new attack on the Operation’s image is a premeditated attempt to lower morale among our troops while they carry out their tasks professionally.
“In Plateau, Operation Safe Haven has made a deliberate attempt to halt the tide of communal confrontations, reprisals, and other forms of criminality.” He stated his case.
