Actor Ibrahim Chatta has denied the claim that his ex-wife, Salamat, left him due to domestic violence, stating that it is unfounded. Reports had circulated that Salamat ended their marriage because she was a victim of domestic abuse. However, in an interview with Punch, Chatta questioned how he could have summoned the audacity to harm a politician’s daughter.
The actor explained that he did his utmost to make the marriage work but was unsuccessful, as Salamat had declared that she no longer loved him. Chatta further refuted the accusations of being a wife beater, stating that there was no evidence to support such claims. He emphasized that if he had indeed assaulted a woman, there would be visible injuries that would be documented. He also clarified that a previous statement he made about once hitting a woman was taken out of context, as it was in response to being slapped first.
Chatta reflected on the lack of trust in his marriage to Salamat, who is the daughter of a senator, and his efforts to salvage the relationship. He admitted that despite his own waning feelings, he still wanted to work things out and maintain a positive public image as a role model. He expressed frustration with the common perception that blames men in domestic disputes, particularly within the entertainment industry, where entertainers are often seen as promiscuous and irresponsible.
The actor highlighted the various rumors and accusations surrounding his separation from Salamat, including claims of a poor home environment and physical abuse. He defended himself by stating that he had a well-furnished home and dismissed the notion that he would resort to violence against a politician’s daughter due to financial motives. Chatta urged individuals making accusations to provide concrete evidence rather than relying solely on hearsay and speculation.
