Nigerian actress Toyin Abraham has written a letter to Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, explaining why she supported his candidacy. In an open letter shared on her official Twitter account, Toyin advised President Tinubu to learn from the mistakes of his predecessors and work towards uniting the country.
Addressing the criticism and backlash she faced for her support, Toyin urged Tinubu to address the grievances of the youth and regain their trust. She began the letter by congratulating him on his confirmation as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, emphasizing that it is a significant honor.
Toyin expressed her personal reasons for openly supporting Tinubu’s candidacy, despite opposition from others. She cited her admiration for Tinubu’s leadership in Lagos and his accomplishments as a public servant. Additionally, she commended his support for the aspirations and ideas of younger individuals.
While reaffirming her support for Tinubu, Toyin emphasized that her allegiance lies with the Nigerian people and the country’s well-being. She emphasized the importance of peace and stability, recognizing the immense responsibility and qualities required to be a successful president. She acknowledged Tinubu’s humility, intelligence, and courage, as well as his long-standing commitment to public service, dating back to his involvement in the NADECO movement and his defense of M.K.O. Abiola’s candidacy during the June 12 protests.
