Simisola Kosoko, known as Simi, a renowned Nigerian singer, recently opened up about her past struggles as a gospel artist. She revealed that she used to receive very low performance fees, ranging from N5,000 to N10,000, and the highest amount she ever earned was N70,000. Despite the meager income, she diligently tithed 10% of her earnings.
Due to financial constraints, Simi faced difficulties in covering the expenses of studio sessions and promotions for her gospel music career. Consequently, she made the difficult decision to switch to secular music. However, she also mentioned that during her gospel music days, she was signed to a record label that she deeply regrets signing with until today.
Her transition to secular music proved to be a turning point in her career, leading her to achieve great success and recognition in the Nigerian music industry. Despite the challenges she faced in the past, Simi’s talent and determination eventually paved the way for her to become one of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists.
