Davido pays tribute to Wizkid’s late mum at Afronation festival [Video]

Renowned Nigerian Afrobeats artist, Davido, paused his performance at Afronation in Detroit, USA, to pay tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun. This touching gesture occurred on Sunday, following the recent passing of Wizkid’s mother on August 18, 2023.

Davido, along with fans and fellow colleagues of the award-winning artist, has been honoring Wizkid’s late mother during performances and through condolence messages on social media.

Davido, who can empathize with Wizkid’s grief, having lost his own mother, Mrs. Veronica Adekunle, in the past, expressed his condolences and remarked on Wizkid’s achievements that made his mother proud. He shared:

“Personally, I have lost so many people in my life. And I want to send condolences to my brother, Ayo Balogun Wizkid. To his mother, may her soul rest in peace. I lost my mother myself years ago. But I know whatever he [Wizkid] has done, he has made his mother proud.”

Davido’s heartfelt tribute showcases the camaraderie and support among Nigerian artists during times of loss and remembrance.
