Renowned Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu has opened up about the reasons behind the failure of his marriage to his ex-wife, Ibiere Maclayton. He revealed that the lack of seeking divine guidance played a role in the downfall of their relationship.
During an interview with The Punch, Julius Agwu discussed his marital challenges and his battle with a brain tumor. He admitted that he didn’t consult God before marrying his ex-wife, and he believes that any marriage without God at its foundation will struggle to endure.

He explained that his ex-wife was initially attracted to his financial success, but when he faced health issues, their marriage faced difficulties. He said:
“I believe that any marriage without God would not last. When I married my wife, I did not even consult God. Some of us got married when there was so much money, and at that time, practically every girl wanted to be with us. But, after marriage, if anything happens to one, they would say, ‘I don’t want this man again’. I suggest that people should consult God first before getting married.”
Julius Agwu reflected on his recovery journey following the end of his marriage. He emphasized that while the experience taught him valuable lessons, he remains open to the possibility of considering marriage again in the future.

He shared that his health has been his main focus since undergoing brain tumor surgery in 2015. Agwu expressed gratitude for being alive and stated that he believes God has blessed him because of his positive interactions with others.
His story highlights the importance of seeking divine guidance and having a strong foundation of faith in relationships and marriages.
