Adebowale Adedayo, a renowned comedian widely known as Mr Macaroni, recently opened up about his personal struggles with depression following his expulsion from university in 2017. He revealed that the incident deeply affected him, particularly because it was the fourth university he had attended.
Taking to his Twitter handle, the skit maker candidly shared his experiences. He wrote, “During late 2017 and 2018, I was dealing with depression. It was a challenging period for me as I had just been expelled from the university, marking the fourth time I had changed institutions.”
Mr Macaroni further explained that in 2018, he experienced another bout of depression due to his inability to secure acting opportunities. However, it was during this challenging period that he decided to create and share content online, ultimately leading him to achieve stardom.
He added, “Between 2018 and 2019, I continued to face depression while hustling for roles in Nollywood. I had been auditioning since 2011, constantly seeking acting opportunities. I faced countless disappointments and financial burdens in pursuit of my passion.”
The comedian revealed that he found solace by creating and sharing content online, which ultimately helped him overcome his depression. He expressed gratitude to God for answering his prayers and providing him with a breakthrough in the same year.
Mr Macaroni also clarified that he was later given an opportunity to return to the institution that had initially expelled him and successfully graduated from university.
