Davido, the renowned Nigerian singer whose real name is David Adeleke, recently shared a revelation about his upbringing, stating that he was unaware of his family’s wealth until he turned 13 years old. During an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast hosted by N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, the “Omo Baba Olowo” crooner discussed his father’s financial status.
According to Davido, despite being exposed to a lot of wealth throughout his life, he only discovered the extent of his father’s riches when he reached his teenage years. He explained that his father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, maintained a high level of financial discipline, to the point that he didn’t realize their family was wealthy.
Davido recalled a significant incident that made him aware of their wealth. When their previous house was destroyed in an explosion, his mother informed him that they were moving to a new house. It was during this move that Davido realized his father had been building a grand house without his knowledge. The revelation dawned upon him as they arrived at the magnificent new residence, which his father still resides in.
