Abidemi Faboye, the founder of the school attended by the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has shared his memories of the artist and reflected on his performance in the NECO examination.
According to a report from Punch News, Faboye, who is the proprietor and principal of Abifab College in Ikorodu, Lagos, a secondary school, recounted how he first encountered the late singer.
Faboye mentioned that their paths crossed in 2013, saying, “I first met him when he enrolled at my school in 2013.” Interestingly, he noted that Mohbad’s elder sister, Blessing, had also graduated from their school the same year.
Describing Mohbad during his school years, Faboye reminisced, “He came to us from a public school, initially a quiet and slender young man.” He pointed out that Mohbad underwent a significant transformation in the years following secondary school, gaining weight.
Faboye praised Mohbad’s academic abilities, stating, “He was remarkably bright and managed to pass his exams in a single attempt.” He mentioned that Mohbad successfully completed the National Examination Council senior secondary certificate exam in 2015 at the age of 17 and appeared more mature than some of his classmates.
Reflecting on their teacher-student relationship, Faboye shared that Mohbad affectionately called him “daddy,” although he preferred students to address him as “Abifab” or “Mr. Abifab.” He mentioned that Mohbad pursued a commercial course and achieved excellent results.
Faboye described Mohbad as a peaceful and easygoing individual who rarely caused any trouble during his time at the school.
Regarding Mohbad’s affiliation with Naira Marley’s record label, the Marlian group, Faboye expressed surprise and had reservations about how well he would fit into such a group. However, he prayed for Mohbad’s success.
Faboye also mentioned that Mohbad’s father was a carpenter and pastor, and as a student, Mohbad often assisted his father and learned carpentry skills from him.
These reflections provide valuable insights into Mohbad’s early life, academic achievements, and the impression he left on his school and teachers.
