In a recent episode of the ABtalks podcast, renowned Afrobeat singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, opened up about the adverse effects of his fame on his loved ones.
Davido acknowledged the advantages that accompany fame but emphasized that it also brings certain drawbacks. While he appreciates the privileges it affords him, he expressed concern about how it impacts his daughter and family in negative ways.
During the podcast, he stated, “I would be dishonest if I said I didn’t enjoy being famous, but it has its pros and cons. I have access to anything I desire, but it becomes stressful because it intrudes upon my personal life and that of my family.”
The singer went on to reveal that his daughter has faced bullying at school due to her association with him. The recognition and treatment she received solely because she is his daughter troubled him deeply. Furthermore, Davido disclosed that his sister had to relocate her children from their previous school because of the way people treated them once their connection to him became known. The situation became so uncomfortable that they had to enroll in different schools, and even then, the knowledge of their relation to him would cause chaos.
Thus, Davido conveyed the bittersweet nature of fame, where it brings positive aspects but also exerts negative influences on his loved ones.
