Charly Boy, a well-known Nigerian entertainer widely referred to as Area Father, has shared some of his experiences as an activist fighting for good governance.
The pioneer of the “Our Mumu Don Do” movement took to Twitter on Wednesday to recount instances of being subjected to brutality and even imprisonment by security operatives.
In his tweet, Charly Boy revealed that his tumultuous experiences, spanning from 1966 to the present day, have made him “soft like butter,” emphasizing that he has witnessed it all.
He wrote, “As an individual and a citizen of this once great country, and as the Area Fada, I can confidently say that I have experienced everything. Now, I am as tender as butter.”
“I was young when the Union Jack was lowered into obscurity. I witnessed hope fade away in 1966 and the rampant destruction that followed in 1967.”
“In 1999, I observed my beloved father pave the way for national healing. Since then, I have witnessed even more. I know how water enters a coconut. I have been subjected to brutality, tear-gassing, and months of imprisonment, all caused by our senseless security forces, which left me impoverished.”
In this manner, Charly Boy conveyed the depth of his involvement as an activist, highlighting the hardships and sacrifices he has endured over the years in his relentless pursuit of justice and good governance.
