Charly Boy, the maverick singer, Charles Oputa, has clarified the status of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the only democratically elected Yoruba president.
In a tweet, Charly Boy acknowledged Obasanjo’s achievement, stating that he considers him the sole democratically elected Yoruba president. He expressed his admiration for Obasanjo and addressed him with respect, referring to him as President Aremu Olusegun OBASANJO.
Obasanjo served as Nigeria’s president for eight years after being elected in 1999. It should be noted that in the 2023 election, President Bola Tinubu was elected after a contentious contest, with the opposition challenging his victory in court, alleging electoral fraud and favoritism by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
