Blaqbonez, the Nigerian rapper, has made bold claims about the manipulation of Apple Music Nigeria’s chart by certain artists using “fake streams” to boost their songs. In a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, co-hosted by reality star Tacha, Blaqbonez alleged that a significant number of songs in the top 20 on the chart owe their positions to a technique called “streaming farm,” which generates artificial streams.
According to Blaqbonez, many of the songs currently dominating the Apple Music Nigeria chart are not genuinely popular. He expressed frustration over the situation, noting that his own song, “Like Ice Spice,” should have secured a top 10 position but has been hindered by the presence of these alleged “streaming farms.”
The rapper pointed out that Apple Music is considered a platform with high visibility and PR, which prompts artists to target it for chart success. He claimed that some artists who are not achieving success on other platforms are charting prominently on Apple Music Nigeria through the use of these questionable streaming practices.
Blaqbonez’s comments shed light on his concerns about the authenticity and integrity of the Apple Music Nigeria chart, raising questions about the fairness of the rankings and the impact it has on artists striving for recognition based on genuine popularity.
