Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, popularly known as Nasboi, expressed his disappointment with the organizers of the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for not nominating him in the Online Social Content Creator category for the award’s ninth edition. Nasboi, a skit maker and singer, claimed that he had submitted a video for consideration but was not acknowledged, while skit makers with less impact were nominated.
During his appearance on TVC’s program, ESplash, Nasboi voiced his belief that he had a more successful career than most skit makers in 2022 and therefore deserved at least a nomination, even if he didn’t win the award.
He stated, “The AMVCA started including us in the content creators category two years ago. The first time, I wasn’t really upset about not being nominated. But this time, if AMVCA is watching, I deserved a nomination.”
Nasboi shared that in the previous year, a friend of his who received a nomination had informed him about submitting their videos to AMVCA. However, in 2022, Nasboi believed his content was exceptional and superior to many of the nominated videos. He felt that his videos were both entertaining and inspiring.
Expressing his disappointment, Nasboi expressed that while winning the award was not his main concern, he had expected to receive a nomination that he believed he deserved, considering the quality and impact of his work in 2022.
