During a meeting in Akure, Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), provided an update on the health of the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who has been unwell for a period of time. Omisore assured the government and people of the state that there is no need for alarm as the governor is expected to return to the state soon and is already on the path to recovery.
The meeting, which included the acting governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, the state chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin, members of the House of Assembly, and other government officials, was described as a “solidarity visit” by Omisore to show support to the state government during this challenging time. Omisore conveyed the regrets of the National Secretariat regarding a recent statement attributed to the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, concerning the governor’s health.
Omisore clarified that Adamu never stated that Akeredolu was incapacitated, emphasizing that his purpose in visiting the state was to address the misinterpretation of the national chairman’s statement and set the record straight. He explained that the national chairman had simply called for prayers for the governor’s speedy recovery, without implying any incapacity.
Expressing gratitude to the visiting team for their support, Omisore criticized certain members of the press for distorting facts and spreading false information. He affirmed the unity of the APC in standing behind Governor Akeredolu and expressed confidence in his swift recovery.
