Nigerian singer-songwriter, Eniola Akinbo, widely known as Niyola, recently revealed that she found herself in the music profession unexpectedly, describing it as an “accident.” The painful experiences of losing her mother, father, and a close friend were the catalysts that led her to start singing.
In a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Niyola expressed that she never aspired to become a celebrity. She stumbled into music as a result of the pain, loss, and personal growth she experienced.
She stated, “I stumbled into music as a profession by accident. It was pain. It was loss. It was gain. I lost very important people in my life – three. I lost my friend, a very good friend of mine. I lost my mum. And then I lost my dad.”
Niyola also acknowledged that leaving Banky W’s record label, EME, was not a “happy ending” for her. Nevertheless, she viewed it as an opportunity to start afresh and embark on a new chapter in her musical journey.
