Laycon, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 5, has explained the reason behind his hiatus from music, stating that it ceased to be enjoyable for him. In a recent interview with J. Malone, a popular media personality, the rapper revealed that he had been involved in music from a young age.
However, he took a break because the joy he once derived from music had diminished. Laycon mentioned that he always had a passion for singing, often finding himself captivated by other artists’ songs and wanting to perform them. It wasn’t until he was around 13 years old that he began crafting his own lyrics, using existing flows and rhythms as inspiration. Although he started releasing music in 2012 when he entered the university, it wasn’t until 2016, with the release of his EP titled ‘The Young, Black and Gifted,’ that he embarked on his first major project.
