Rear Admiral O. K. Oluwagbire, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), has assured that the Nigerian Navy is prepared to take action against saboteurs and criminals who target national maritime infrastructures. He emphasized that the ENC is capable of addressing maritime crimes in the states of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Rivers, which fall under its jurisdiction.
During a courtesy visit to Governor Bassey Otu, Rear Admiral Oluwagbire reiterated the military’s commitment to providing support to civil authorities. He warned against any interference with the economic assets located in the three maritime states, which include crude oil terminals, seaports, gas plants, refineries, oil fields, and fishing environments. He stressed that the Nigerian Navy will not tolerate criminal activities that threaten these critical economic infrastructures.
Governor Otu welcomed the FOC and his team, expressing his assurance of optimal cooperation and support for the Nigerian Navy’s efforts to secure the country’s waterways. He acknowledged the importance of waterway security for business and emphasized the state’s commitment to partnering with the Navy to ensure the safety of its residents.
