Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has assured that his government will work tirelessly to maintain positive relationships among all branches of government. He gave this assurance during the inauguration of the 8th Osun State House of Assembly on Tuesday.
Governor Adeleke recently dissolved the 7th Assembly led by Timothy Owoeye and proclaimed the 8th Assembly. In his address to the lawmakers, he emphasized the significance of the legislature as a vital symbol of democracy. As a former lawmaker himself, he considered it his duty to foster amicable relationships among all branches of government.
Governor Adeleke stressed the importance of elected officials serving the people and putting public interests above personal ones. He highlighted the principles of local content, direct labor, and value for money within the framework of due process as guiding principles for his administration.
He sought the support of the 8th Assembly in continuing the good governance revolution. He expressed his belief that achieving this goal would require a supportive Assembly that exercises its power in the interest of the people and the public good.
Meanwhile, the newly elected Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, announced the Assembly’s plan to review all bills passed into law by the previous administration. The aim is to identify and rectify any provisions or clauses that are not in the best interest of the state. He emphasized the leadership’s commitment to ensuring that only beneficial laws are enacted for the benefit of the state.
