Iniobong Edo, a popular Nollywood actress, recently shared that her childhood aspirations were to become a lawyer or a newscaster. She revealed that her role model at the time was the late broadcaster Tokunbo Ajayi.
During a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ini Edo expressed her admiration for Tokunbo Ajayi and how she would watch her news broadcasts, aspiring to be like her. She never imagined that she would end up becoming an actress.
Ini Edo shared, “I wanted to be a lawyer or a newscaster. My role model was the late Tokunbo Ajayi. I always loved watching her deliver the news. That’s who I wanted to emulate. I never really thought that I would become an actor.”
She explained that she had always been involved in the arts, participating in school and church activities related to the arts. While waiting for her Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams to pursue a law degree, she decided to pursue a Theater Art diploma. It was during this time that she started performing on stage. Then, the opportunity to join the film industry came, and she embraced it, realizing it was her destiny.
Ini Edo also mentioned that her family initially did not support her decision to become an actress. However, a movie director named Ikenna Igwe visited her family and convinced them to allow her to pursue a career in film.
