A disagreement has arisen between Nollywood actress Ini Edo and filmmaker Chinenye Nworah regarding ownership of their Netflix series, “Shanty Town.” The success of the series has reportedly sparked a legal dispute, with each side claiming full or partial ownership rights.
Edo’s legal team reportedly sent a cease and desist letter to Netflix, requesting they halt discussions with Nworah regarding a potential sequel.
Additionally, they claim in the letter that 5% of the series’ profits should be distributed among the producers, not just Nworah.
They further allege that Nworah entered an agreement with two other companies, potentially impacting ownership rights.
Nworah, however, has strongly refuted these claims, asserting that she is the sole copyright holder and initiator of “Shanty Town.” Both sides maintain their stance, leading to a complex legal situation surrounding the ownership of the series.
