Chief Eyo Okon Edet, also known as Eyo Aswang, the Deputy Coordinator of Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation in Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has been kidnapped at his filling station in Marina Oron. Edet, who is the Chairman of Eyotech Oil Nigeria Limited, was attacked by the abductors on Monday evening at his filling station. They assaulted him, abducted him in their Sienna vehicle, and later transferred him to a waiting speedboat at the sea. The assailants set the Sienna vehicle ablaze after the operation. As of now, the family has not received any communication from the abductors regarding ransom demands.
An anonymous eyewitness recounted the incident, stating, “He was at his filling station when those individuals arrived. They forcibly took him into their Sienna vehicle, fired gunshots into the air, and then transported him to a location where they put him into a speedboat before setting their vehicle on fire.”
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Odiko Macdon, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, has ordered an investigation into the matter. The Commissioner of Police visited the scene of the incident, including the waterfront where the Sienna used in the abduction was burnt. The burnt vehicle has been recovered, and investigations have commenced. The authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice in the near future.
