Singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has finally received her Grammy award plaque. Tems won the award for Best Melodica Rap Performance at the 65th Grammys on February 6, 2023. She was recognized for her contribution to Future’s song ‘Wait For U‘, which also featured Drake.
Her manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, shared the news of the plaque’s arrival via his Instagram story on Friday. He proudly displayed the Grammy award plaque without adding a caption.
Tems made history as the first female Nigerian artist to win a Grammy. She was also the first female Nigerian singer to be nominated for a Grammy award. In the previous year, she received a nomination in the Best Global Performance category for her collaboration with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence‘, although she ultimately lost to Pakistan’s Arooj Aftab.
Receiving the Grammy award plaque is a significant achievement for Tems, and it solidifies her status as an accomplished artist in the music industry.
