In a New York auction held on Tuesday, the crown gold ring worn by the late American rapper and actor, Tupac Amaru Shakur, was sold for a staggering $1 million. This iconic ring was famously adorned by Tupac during his final public appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 1996.
Tupac’s godmother, Yaasmyn Fula, was the one who provided the ring to the auction house. She revealed that the ring, which features the inscription “Pac & Dada 1996” on its side, was custom-designed for him in New York City after his release from jail and signing with Death Row Records.
Made of gold, rubies, and diamond crowns, the ring has now become the most valuable hip-hop artifact ever sold, according to reports from the New York Post.
Tragically, Tupac Shakur was fatally shot at the young age of 25 on September 13, 1996, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. Despite his untimely death, his legacy as one of the most influential and iconic figures in the hip-hop industry lives on.
