Don Jazzy, a veteran Nigerian producer and music executive, has disclosed the reasons why he did not sign afrobeats superstars Wizkid and Davido to his former record label, Mo’Hits.
According to Don Jazzy, he couldn’t sign Wizkid because Banky W, the boss of EME Records, had already approached and signed him before he had the chance. He acknowledged that signing Wizkid would have been an incredible opportunity.
Regarding Davido, Don Jazzy explained that he recognized Davido’s potential for success without the support of a record label, so he didn’t pursue signing him.
Don Jazzy also expressed regret for not signing Simi and Teni, as he admired their talent and work. He revealed that he almost signed rapper Falz The Bahd Guy, but the deal didn’t materialize.
These revelations were made by Don Jazzy during his appearance as a guest on the Leaderboard podcast hosted by Fisayo Fosudo.
