The Kano State Government has decided to withdraw its lawsuit filed at the Federal High Court, Kano, seeking to halt the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from investigating former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. The withdrawal notice was conveyed in a letter from the Kano Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi, addressed to Sanusi Musa, SAN.
In the letter, dated July 4, 2023, the Kano State Government notified Sanusi Musa, SAN, and his team that they are no longer required to pursue the case, identified as NO: FHC/KN/71/2023, which was initiated by the Attorney General of Kano State against the EFCC. The letter instructed the legal team not to take any further action, including appearing in court or filing any processes related to the case.
Previously, the Kano State Government had issued a fiat instrument through the Ministry of Justice to prevent the EFCC from investigating the controversial dollar video involving the former governor. However, the government has now decided to withdraw the suit, thereby allowing the EFCC to proceed with its investigation.
