Ifedayo Olarinde, widely known as Daddy Freeze, a renowned broadcaster and socialite, has expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the removal of subsidies on petroleum products.
During his inaugural speech at the Eagles Square on Monday, Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy, stating that “fuel subsidy is gone.”
The decision has sparked varied reactions from Nigerians, particularly from opposition parties. While some applauded Tinubu for the bold step, others believed that the timing of the policy was inappropriate.
Addressing the criticism from supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Daddy Freeze took to his Instagram page and shared an old tweet by Obi, in which he described fuel subsidy in the country as organized crime.
Referring to Obi’s tweet, Daddy Freeze stated, “Before you start complaining, even Peter Obi said he would remove subsidy.”
