The principal of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Mrs Uchechukwu Edum, has expressed surprise at the announcement regarding the alleged forgery of JAMB scores by Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme, the student who emerged as the highest scorer.
Mrs Edum stated that the controversy surrounding the score was not new to her, and the school was awaiting the outcome of an investigation by the Department of State Services (DSS) when news of the alleged forgery broke. In response to inquiries about Miss Ejikeme’s result, which showed a score of 362, Mrs Edum mentioned that both she and the student had provided statements at the DSS office and were awaiting the investigation’s conclusion.
However, JAMB made an announcement discrediting their student’s result. Mrs Edum narrated the sequence of events, including contacting the education secretary and the commissioner, who then reached out to JAMB. The school cooperated with the DSS and provided statements regarding the result checking process.
Mrs Edum expressed her intention to visit Miss Ejikeme’s house for further discussions. Additionally, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, the CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), pledged to protect Miss Ejikeme from intimidation and stated that he would send a letter to JAMB for a thorough investigation of the matter.
