Jackie Idimogu, a prominent animal rights activist and President of My Dog & I group, has strongly criticized chef Hilda Baci for consuming dog meat.
The controversy arose when Hilda Baci, who was attempting a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, was captured in a viral video sitting at a table where dog meat was served during her visit to her home state of Akwa Ibom. In response, Jackie Idimogu expressed her disappointment and accused Hilda of cruelty towards animals. She pointed out that members of her group, who are advocates for animal rights, had shown support for Hilda during her cookathon, with dogs present at the event.
Jackie expressed her surprise and disbelief that Hilda, despite receiving support from her group and their dogs, would consume dog meat and promote it. She emphasized that the act contradicts the positive image of Nigerians that Hilda had previously showcased to the world. Jackie ended her message by clarifying that Nigerians, in general, are not dog eaters and wanted to refute that perception.
