Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called on President Bola Tinubu to disregard the actions of his predecessor, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, and release Nnamdi Kanu.
Ejimakor expressed his astonishment at Buhari’s lack of respect for the rule of law, emphasizing that Kanu’s prolonged detention without any charges is a clear violation of the principles of the rule of law.
In a series of tweets inspired by his recent visit to Kanu, Ejimakor pledged to share insights into their discussions. He began by stating, “Detention without any charge is the defining feature of a banana republic.”
He criticized the Buhari administration’s blatant disregard for the fundamental principles of the rule of law and urged President Tinubu not to follow the same path of disregard.
According to Ejimakor, when there are no charges against an individual, they should be released. Therefore, the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu without any charges is both unlawful and in violation of the law.
